How to play Jigsaw Solitaire
Jigsaw Solitaire mixes the snap of a jigsaw with the slide-and-match logic of solitaire. Here is the whole game in five steps.
Step by step
- Open a level and look at the picture you are rebuilding — the board is covered with loose pieces.
- Swipe any piece across the board. Pieces never get stuck: you can always move them again.
- When two pieces with matching edges touch, they snap together on their own with a soft click.
- Pieces that have snapped form one group, and the whole group slides together — plan your moves so you don't pull a set apart again.
- Clear every piece off the board to reveal the full HD picture and unlock the next board.
Tips that actually help
Build in one area first: a growing group is far easier to place than twenty loose pieces.
Work along an edge — flat-backed pieces are easier to spot on a crowded board.
Keep a group intact when you slide it; splitting a set costs you the progress you just made.
Stuck? Use the free hint button rather than staring at the board — there is no penalty for it.
No timers and no move limit: take as long as you like, and leave and come back whenever you want.
How the levels are arranged
1,750 handcrafted levels are grouped into 96 chapters, and each chapter follows one real place — the Great Wall of China, Hallstatt in Austria, the windmills of the Netherlands, Lake Lungern in Switzerland, the Maldives from the air. Every picture becomes several boards of rising difficulty.
Playing without internet
The first chapters are built into the app, so you can start solving with no connection at all. Later picture packs download in the background over wifi as you progress, and any picture you have downloaded stays on your device for offline replays.
